We also collect information automatically when you use our services, such as your IP address, browser type, pages visited, and usage data through cookies and similar tracking technologies.

We use the information we collect to provide, maintain, and improve our services; process transactions and send related information; send promotional communications (you may opt out at any time); respond to your comments and questions; and monitor and analyze trends and usage.

3. Sharing of Information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share your information with third-party vendors and service providers that perform services on our behalf, such as payment processing (Stripe), email delivery, analytics, and Plaid for user-authorized financial account connections. We may also disclose your information if required by law or to protect the rights and safety of The AI Surfer and its users.

4. Financial Data and Plaid

The AI Surfer may use Plaid Inc. (“Plaid”) to allow you to securely connect your financial accounts to our personal finance and AI CFO assistant features.

When you choose to connect a financial account through Plaid, Plaid may collect and transmit financial account information from your selected financial institution to The AI Surfer. Depending on the accounts and features you authorize, this may include account names, account types, balances, transaction history, recurring transactions, institution metadata, and related financial information.

We use this information only to provide personal finance features you request, including account dashboards, budget insights, cashflow analysis, recurring expense detection, net worth summaries, and AI CFO assistant responses.

We do not sell your financial data. We do not use your financial data for advertising. We do not use your financial data to train public or shared AI models.

5. Consent and Account Connection

We only collect financial account data after you affirmatively authorize a connection through Plaid Link. You choose which financial institution and accounts to connect. You may disconnect a linked financial account at any time from within the application or by contacting us.

6. Financial Data Retention and Deletion

We retain connected financial data only as long as needed to provide the requested personal finance and AI CFO assistant features, unless a longer period is required for security, legal, or operational reasons.

If you disconnect a financial institution, request deletion, or delete your account, we will delete or de-identify stored financial account data associated with that connection, subject to backup expiration and legally required retention.

7. AI Assistant Use

The AI Surfer may process your financial data through AI systems to generate summaries, insights, forecasts, and answers to your questions. The AI assistant is designed for read-only personal finance analysis and does not initiate transfers, payments, trades, or account changes.

We limit AI access to the data needed to answer your request and do not expose raw Plaid access tokens to the AI assistant.

8. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as necessary to provide our services and fulfill the purposes outlined in this policy, unless a longer retention period is required by law. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us at hello@theaisurfer.com.

9. Cookies

We use cookies and similar tracking technologies to track activity on our platform and hold certain information. You can instruct your browser to refuse all cookies or to indicate when a cookie is being sent. If you do not accept cookies, some portions of our service may not function properly.

10. Security

We take reasonable measures to help protect information about you from loss, theft, misuse, unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, and destruction. Payment information is encrypted and processed securely through Stripe. Financial account data connected through Plaid is handled as sensitive data and protected with access controls, encryption, and deletion/disconnect controls.

11. Your Rights

12. Children's Privacy

Our services are not directed to individuals under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, we will take steps to delete such information.
